Shrimad BHAGWAT GITA — The principle of balance life
I encountered with many people who talk about GITA, but that is not my interest to spread any ideology. What make me surprise that BHAGWAT GITA and spirituality are used as synonyms.
I again read and re-read BHAGWAT GITA, just to know where I left things behind, I translated chapters after chapters and what I only and only found is that BHAGWAT GITA is the Genesis of actions rather than teaching anything for spiritual or any innate ideas.
Unfortunately
the Shrimad Bhagwat Gita which is the most important religious book of Hindus
is taken as spiritual philosophy at present. Gita means these days that nothing
is true and there is no place of materialism in this world.
But Gita pronounced this world as real and emphasized on action, right to say, prescribed actions and also the principle of balance life- emotionally and physiologically. The lesson which Gita taught to this Hindu race is the passions and its shortcomings of greed, hatred, desire and so on and encouraged man to stand against injustice. Gita totally kept faith on the oldest philosophical system Yoga and encouraged mass to adopt this system for good life, the Yoga- Chitvrati Nirodha (cessation of manifestation in mind) makes the mind stable, as stable as water in the pot.
But these days the Yoga which was based on the theory of ‘chit varti nirodh (cessation of modification of mind or heart) is now taken as the aerobics and physical exercises. The teachings of Gita are a touch stone of Hindu religion and still this holy book make its place on the top of everything. The crux of the Gita is to live a life in accordance with the true knowledge and it teach us detachment with action without presupposing the fruits and this action is according to the duty which society fixed for the prevailing better civilization.
The brand sale stuff for spirituality is GITA. Nowhere in GITA, had I realized Krishna denouncing the material world rather it was the preaching in the Great War for the material world. The reality is not that GITA took spirit Atman as the only reality but also the world where Arjuna was fighting was real. The teaching which are based on metaphysical concept of Samkhya (where first time in philosophy courage was taken to establish subtle body which carried by the soul to next life) and on Dharma (Law of nature)
GITA is not the code of conduct or treaties on ethics as theologists made for the society in the west. If concluded, GITA described the errorious life and the right way of thinking. The universal proposition deduced to particular proposition the cow-ness to a particular cow.
There were schools of philosophy that settled different and tedious questions and situations with logic and discussed natural phenomena and guided the society for the betterment. Even the enlightened Indian King
Gautama
Buddha forced an ethical life to common man with good conduct and good thought.
The reformation process and settling metaphysical issues were made by the
philosophers of this great land were all rooted deeply on logic and reasoning.
And even the religion was restricted in a form that there were process and
there were system to follow the religion.
India no doubt known and renowned for the glory of philosophy ( not spiritualism, mind it) and Hindu philosophy is the greatest treaties of metaphysics and it turned to epistemological part with Vigayptimatrta siddhi of Vasubandhu and also Shanker and Samkhya went to the greater in dept of concepts.
When we compare the growth of Indian and Western philosophies it seems that West was more inclined towards theology and ethics in the basis of metaphysics. It started with Plato about ETHOPIA and remained till the logical positivism of Russell.
Where as In India, The natural laws described in metaphysics and Indian epistemology tried to make understand the error of intellect and chambers of consciousness.
I as a student of philosophy was impressed by the Max Muller when he announced Indian philosophy as pessimistic and Hindu philosophy is made to circled around the death and reborn. But maturity taught man and so the in-depth of learning. With time I realized Philosophies of Indian soil were not mere thoughts of schools but they were analytic expressions based on natural laws. What John Hospers reached to the differentiation between perceiving things and conceiving ideas.
The second important defect which makes Indian philosophy shied for ever is the concept that Indian philosophy and spiritualism are the same things. This marketing catch word attracted west and at last they found that they still stand on the same grounds from where they had proceeded for the bliss.
