Village without 'latch and bolt' even in 21st century

 Religion means simplicity

If we take religion as simple way of life then it would certainly provide simplicity and healthy society. If again we take religion as brotherhood harmony and love of Nature that it would certainly provide easy and plain with trouble free life. But certainly we witness religion as complex and full of superstition and multifaceted intricate way of life that provide society thorny and knotty life within society.

What we generally do is that whenever we encounter something new or witness a simple culture we start framing it into religion. The problem is that we do not enjoy that culture or the basic principle of some tradition can also be very simple. We mostly connect simplicity with god or religion and made it complex but unable to understand that some customs are beautiful and they are part of Hindu ideology and the beauty is that they are scientific.

I mean a village where even in 2020 AD, there is no pakka house and the whole village is made of mud. Interestingly villagers do not use lock and key when they went out of the village. This is Devmali village in Masuda block of Ajmer. In this village people do not construct pakka house. No family put lock when they went out and no resident take liquor or any intoxication or eat non-veg. Villagers here are farmers but not a single farmer has a piece of land. This village still follows their traditional rituals and never constructs any concrete building.

The Devmali village with habitat of about 100 families never constructed concrete house and all houses here are made of mud and stones. Villagers never seen anyone locking their house and as per police record there is no case of theft or burglary in last twenty years. Even kitchens here are traditional and no modernization is seen for cooking with LPG. It is like coming back to medieval village of India.

The village is situated in the Masuda block of the district and surrounded by hills with black stones. Villagers said that they dedicated to the deity Dev Narayan and therefore they follow the teachings even in this modern age. Even their youth generation is not allowed to break their laws.

Ramnarayan Gujjar of the village said that they cultivate crops but every inch of the land is registered on the name of deity Dev Narayan. Villagers report that they have no dispute of land because it is already mark out that which family will cultivate which land but the land. He said that in his life he has never seen any dispute related to cultivation.

The houses here are completely made up of mud and bricks and not a single piece of iron or cement or even concrete is used in construction. Even roofs are made of hush and mud and people enjoy their lives without air condition or ceiling fans.

The economy is totally dependent of farming and cattle grazing. The economical condition of villagers is comparatively better. Villagers narrated that they have not seen locking of any door in the village in their whole life, even when families went out for a month to their relatives.

The moral life is also guided by the teachings of the deity here and no one living in this village consumes liquor or any intoxication. There is no incident reported in this village of moral turpitude. Even no one in the village cooks or eats non vegetarian food and life here is simple and attached to nature.

.

Villagers added that they follow the teaching of brotherhood and simplicity and that is the religion which made life easier rather than complex. For them religion is moral life, respecting other right of living and leaving greed and create harmony. The most important aim of their lives is to be near to the Nature. The village even today look beautiful and villagers here are proud that they are maintaining their rituals and customs.
