Philosophy is a waste?

Since very long, philosophers wandered to sift the flow of philosophical treatises and legate all in a tune of homologous to make sense of the subject ‘Philosophy’. Certainly, scientific approach left less space for philosophical thinking in the field of metaphysics and therefore chanting those old treaties with different intentions and contradicting their senses made no use of this very old system of thinking and reasoning to prevail further.

What philosophy these days left is learning and repeating the contradiction made out by the opponents. In India philosophy means, the dualism of Samkhya, The atoms of Nayaya and the Maya of Shankar. Hindu Philosophy, in its development of thousands of years, witnessed the expansion of mankind and growth of different civilizations and also fought vigorously against dogmas and superstitions for the betterment of mankind, absolutely alone, in the absence of science and its approaches, it moved further and provided life of wisdom.

There were ages when religion and society went out loose from the shade of philosophy and there were times in Hindu civilization, when reasoning and logic lost the hold on thinking process but history proved that philosophy again regained the ground and made this race prosperous, happy, peaceful and advanced economy, art, culture and education. One thing, which made this tour success, is the values embedded with religion that helped to move this Hindu society. These values were taught as religion, “Where women are honored, the gods shower the blessings.

But where they are not honored all acts are fruitless, (Yatr Naryastu Pujayanti, Ramante Tatr Devtah, Yatrtastu n pujayanti Sarwastrafla kirya)” Manu Smriti III. There was no competition between different religions in India because religion for Hindus was not something to preach but to practice in society. Right conduct was the religion and therefore there was no need of extra stream of ethics in this race. And now, when sciences have replaced not only the metaphysical part of this subject, proving that the earth is round and it rotates around the sun and left no doubt about how things has made has left philosophy merely as an argument in circle and most of the times it remains as the part of discussions of secret societies. Unlike West, there are no traces found in Hindu society about the secret societies experimenting the reasons and logics to discover truth and knowledge and shaping sciences.

There was no circle that work secretly to reveal the truth and to conserve the philosophy from prevailed religion. No doubt, India in later ages had many reformers but unable to break the shackles of religion to develop with the scientific approaches and bring up this society to developed in an atmosphere of reasonability. Europe proved hard to come out from the sphere of churches to generate thinking and reason to reach the right knowledge.

There were brave philosophers and thinkers in the west who came out against the religious dogmas and dared to call that earth is not like what the religion had stated. They give their lives and results came in a way of progressing of reasons and knowledge in every term of knowledge and so the societies flourish.

Thinking freely from churches was a sin and therefore what religion decided on something has to be followed by the western society. But this was not the case in India, because religion of Hindus was not different from ethical life and free thinking. The Hindu religion witnessed democratic setup and therefore it prevailed for centuries.

There are examples when the religion went rigid even in India blocking free thinking and logical aspersions were restricted in the past and therefore a rebel against those dogmas, religion and superstitions took place at the time of Mahveer of Jainism and Gautam of Buddhism and they emerged against excessive religion-ism. Unfortunately, their hardships are now turned to religion and their efforts of reasoning and logic at present turned to blindfold religions and now Mahaveer and Buddha are worshipped as gods and not like teachers who struggled against priesthood in Hindu society.

Now, technology is making everything homogeneous from culture to language and creating lives to automata. Socrates was right that, “Philosophy is what, serves the human kind, is to be served and spread. But if it is not what I believe then ruin it into dust.” For a common man, practically, philosophy is nothing more than the preaching of religious sermons or practicing secret rituals whose meaning they do not understand. For them, philosophy means God and only preaching the words of God.

For common man, philosophy is not reasoning or logic but philosophy means following and accepting what was told long before, according to the suitability, a method to establish the religious deals, similar to the incident of Aristotle who used the word metaphysics and later it was taken as theology rather than ontology. The first cause of the creation becomes the ultimate final cause in every religion with nothing out from its sphere. Basically, philosophy, at present, is the subject of story tellers and the sphere went limited with the smell of mysticism.

Common mass really does not know what flourished in this Hindu land in relation to knowledge but they are confident that their forefathers and their fathers were certainly wise people and given the best of knowledge to their coming generations, they know about the reality and even believed that those seers also met god or several gods who blessed them with wealth and prosperity and asked them to devote themselves to god or gods for better lives.
